Two Thumbs Up For Me

Seems like it was only a month ago when I last posted my reflection. But, here, I am posting again. This post might be my last post in my high school year.

Our graduation day is nearly approaching. This last quarter, we were pressured in all of our subjects ---making our projects, completing of our requirements in order for us to graduate, and fulfilling all the responsibilities that we may leave. But for this entire hectic schedule we have, we are still learning. The lessons that we are taking every single day are all well-processed in our minds. Even though there are still more activities that are inserted in our schedule, we are still have the ability to manage our time wisely. Sometimes, I thought of surrendering, but someone whispered in my ears these words of courage, “Malapit ka na sa tagumpay, ngayon ka pa ba susuko? Sa lahat ng hirap na pinagdaanan mo, ito bang hirap na ito ang magpapabagsak sa iyo? Go! You can do it. Fight! Fight! Fight! ” Those words made me pursue my studies And I think, I did it. I did it well. Two thumbs up for me. Good job

My Dream, My Future

“In a fully air-conditioned lavender-painted room, there is a desk located in the near center of the room. Near the table, on the sides of the room, there are two long and soft sofas covered with clean, flowered-designed bed sheets. In the table, fresh flowers in the vase give beauty and relief to the tower-like pile of medical records. In the glass window, a girl of about in thirty years of age is standing nearby, innocently looking in far and in deep thought. A medical apparatus slings to its neck, and I know, it is a stethoscope. When she faced towards the door where I invisibly standing, I froze. I was shocked in amazement. A few seconds later, I realized that the woman whom I am staring at is me, myself, fifteen years later. I’m in my own office, in advance.”

Suddenly, reality taps me. I came back to genuineness. It is just a dream, but seems like true.

In the first place, I’m always dreaming to be a medical doctor or nurse, since when I am in the third grade. Maybe this is just a sign reminding me to pursue what my heart and my mind says. This sign also motivates me to have more courage, diligence, perseverance, and strength; to dream more and higher; and to attain those dreams without any hesitations and doubts. These dreams would lead me through success, wealth, fame, victory, and contentment.

CHANGE: It Started With Me

CHANGE. --- A one syllable, six letter word. Easy to say, but difficult to do so.

Lethargic. Disgruntled. Uncertain. Obstructive. Insincere in studying. Mean. Meager. Irresponsible. That was me yesterday. That is how I was.

Upon graduating in high school, I will soon face harder and more difficult conundrums in life. But, still, I have insufficient ability to handle such situations. These thoughts penetrated in my mind. Nonetheless, out of nowhere, a voice in my head spoke loudly and clearly, saying the words, “Discover who you are, show the capabilities that you can, and give every aspect of your uniqueness to the world. This will be your path to an extraordinary life.” These thoughts sunk into the tiniest cell of my brain. I began to be more responsible. Studying became my priority in life. Second are my dreams. And being irresponsible is the last. It is truly that change starts in you. It started with me.

Kannawidan...

Ilocano Culture—unique, irreplaceable, well known, exceptional. That is what Ilocos Sur has. That is what young generation should be proud of.

At the present time, children of today are not that so familiar to Ilocano culture. This is due to the modern dances they mostly watch. Traditional ones are already left behind. But as they say, every problem has its own solution. This is why the Kannawidan Festival of Ilocos Sur is being celebrated annually. This festivity awakens the younger generation to the traditional dances. In addition to that, the OTOP’s or “One Town, One Product” of each municipalities were also introduced. It is one of the best highlights of the said celebration. Tourists from different countries visit Ilocos Sur for this event. Furthermore, Excellency awards were awarded to those who brought fame and excellence in name of the province.

 

Kannawidan Ylocos festival is a way of introducing our culture and traditions. I wish and I hope that this will continue for years or centuries.
